When it comes to a marketing “wish list,” small businesses would rather have a whole lot of fans on Facebook than a celebrity endorsement or an ad during the Super Bowl. At least that’s how they responded to a recent poll from Staples. In fact, Staples conducted a survey of small businesses and how they use social media and discovered it’s a pretty big deal.
Specifically, the survey was intended to reveal how social media is integrated into small businesses’ daily operations. Among the highlights of the results, according to Staples, is that 40% feel that using a social media channel helps their business. Yet, more than half (53% ) of small business owners or leaders rate themselves as “novices” or simply don’t get how their business can benefit from social media.
Even if they aren’t convinced of the results, 61% of small businesses still use at least one social media channel. What are the preferred social networking sites used? No real surprise, but in order of priority it’s:
